Internship Days

I did three months of internship at one of the audit firms and to tell you the truth, i enjoyed most of my time. I played around a lot and i do admit, i didn't take it as seriously as i should. But honestly, i have to admit, I'm regretting it a bit. I have a feeling that my supervisor might have thought that i was such a playful person. Im so bad.

However, i met great people around those three months. I got to work with a lot of great and hardworking people and i swear, i love them dearly. Natasha that reminds me of Karyna with her funky yet pretty style, funny esthor, my partner/ big sister esther, clumsy naqib, too cool guo feng, my gang dylan, chill shazwan, eugene, farina, jan ning and more. Three months with them were awesome and i enjoyed my time. I gave full 5 for my experience and it was totally based on the people that i was working with. Although i got scolded by clients and attacked, it was all worth it i guess. I need those to understand that i can't be right all the time.

Haih, i miss esther! I  miss our teh tarik session so bad. I miss esthor!! I miss natasha's laugh. I miss kacau-ing dylan and OH MY GOD! i forgot azad! Azad is one hell funny guy. People like to play and poke with him with some nasty jokes but he's always just cool and chill. Too cool Guo Feng also is another. Desmond reminds me of him. They both have their coolness and their passiveness make them even more cool i guess.

I really wish i can come back and work with them. Show them that i can be much better and more serious person. But, we will have to see how as my parents me to work here. On my last day, i sent two emails to them i want to remember those words i said so i won't forget these awesome people. Of course, one letter is formal and another one is informal. I also keep esther's letter coz all of it are memories that i never want to forget.

That's all i think i want to say about my internship as the rest of it are said in the attachments below :).

The informal letter->

Hi lovely people!

How’s your day so far? Miss me? (I know Dylan does J). As I said, there will be another letter where there is no formality and honesty is the highlight of this letter (it’s going to be messy so brace yourself!). Please allow me to use Manglish in here. Thank you. *Classical songs on*

Overall, working with you guys have been awesome and awesome and honestly, I told the talent team that I rate my experience 5 out of 5  (Some of the interns thought I was crazy L) and that is mostly because of this TEAM! I might be biased as this team is the only team that ive worked with since I started until I finished but you guys are truly, amazingly, absolutely awesome.

To Natasha the cat (meow), you have been a wonderful senior as you have helped me out a lot (like a LOT). I was super-super touched when you actually apologized to me when you left me hanging with my question that one time. It was when you were not in a good mood and I have enquiries regarding that photocopying stuff. You actually came after that and apologized when I really thought it was nothing. So touched (No wonder cats like you as you are a lovely person). Stay happy and talkative as I think most people like you better like that rather than quiet and unhappy L (baling je kambing when the clients are annoying to you) (Gosh, I will remember your ‘kambing’ and ‘kasut’ trademark!). Thank you for helping me out with my leaves, really appreciate it J. What I will miss most about you is your big and loud laugh. But hopefully I won’t hear it in the middle of the night LL. Oh oh, I also adore your confidence J.

To Esthooorrrrr, I think I would describe you as a cute senior (like doraemon. Why doraemon? Coz doraemon is cute). My first impression on you was I thought you are the ‘kiasu’ one (I think you still are) and the ‘garang’ one because on my first day, Natasha did most of the talking while you were there at your table, sitting quietly doing your works. It saddens me that I only got to know you when it was towards the end of my internship L… I will miss your sarcasm and your playfulness. Thank you for your help with my works especially on the MMIP one (haih, that one….). I like how I can also be childish with you and do stupid jokes with you (sorry Natasha, sometimes im scared of you, so that’s why I am quite careful with you at times) and keep that up. I look forward to play sports with you one day and I hope you haven’t left EY that time. I know you wont cry by reading this but helloooooo, this is not the end! I hope I can avenge you on what you have done to me yesterday dinner (nice commercial there) and I hope you will never find your hammer. (p/s: you are esthor, esther catherin is esther Catherine, don’t change >.<*). See you at NZ soon! I will bring you to my favorite place which is (yet to be decided). Heheheeh

To Shazwan………….. you have been a funny person despite your serious face. I swear to God that you always sing to whatever words you heard from us and that always made me laugh on how ‘creative’ you are. Your sarcasm when you gang up with Naqib to attack azad is one of the things I will remember (daily war). You have a very good multi-tasking skill and keep up with that happy go lucky attitude. Just realized ive never seen you got mad but oh well, maybe it’s a good thing J. You work well with Naqib when you want to ‘kena kan’ people and its annoying at times when I cant counter attack but I guess, that’s how you keep the party alive. I didn’t expect for you to realize the ‘najwa latiff’ thing that fast but I have to admit, you have a good observation skill. I hope you will be able to meet the REAL Najwa Latiff and she can sing for you. (p/s: Next time if see me somewhere, don’t call me Najwa please, I ain’t layan)(Also, please be rajin on buying snacks). Please keep up with yesterday’s good work where you have been efficient with your parking ticket and I hope it will stay J.

To Naqib, haloooo. I hope you can get enough sleep when youre done with peak as it’s pretty obvious that you didn’t have enough sleep (I am aware that the rest also do but your face in the morning shows clearly on how lack of sleep you have). Thank  you for your guidance and patience. I know I like to ask a lot of questions and I do realize that sometimes, it messes you up (sorryL). I will remember your laugh and your ethics problems (ahaha,hope you will manage it well). I will also remember your darth vader sound that you always make. In this team, you are like a big brother to azad who likes to push him away or pissed him off (this applies when Shazwan is not joining) and secretly, azad loves you as he always said that youre his other half (oops, sorry azad, tertulis pula JJ). Stay funny and cheerful and I hope you can get a happier engagement after this. Thank you for the badminton session as it was a good one! At least there’s something that I did with the team other than working and eating. Btw, you have been in the suspect list now in term of parking ticket and I hope you will improve (gambatte!). Have fun ‘kena kan’ people with Shazwan J. (p/s: my chatime! I will be back to claim for it! (doesn’t matter if its gonna take yearsJ)).

To Dylan!!!! Hiiiiiiiiii, now youre back to be the youngest one! You surprised me so much when you told me that we’re at the same age as you don’t look like one (oops J). I envy you because at this age, you know a lot about real life auditing and you definitely know what youre doing (also, you have your own income :’(I want too)). Sorry that I didn’t manage to finish all of my works before I leave and I hope you can complete those awesome tasks! Honestly you were the first person that I ‘click’ with in the team (after esther of ocurse) and its so fun to just kacau you (I like to make you miserableJJJJ). I’m going to miss your gossips and your jokes (not so funny but acceptable) (no kidding, its funny). Honestly, i am going to miss the singing session L. I hope to play sports with you one day (and hopefully I can defeat you)(Nope, im not good with badminton L, you areJ). Most importantly, when I ajak you makan2, don’t reject ahhh LL. (p/s: don’t have so many girlfriends, bad bad). Im going to miss your laugh and your question which is “do you know what youre doing?”. Thank you for always making me understand what I am doing and don’t cry when you have no one to bully. Keep up with your ‘kepochi’ style!

To Yasmin! I hope you’re getting well LL.. Thank you for your guidance and I hope I have been a good subordinate to you. Stay pro and stay healthy (ignore Dylan, don’t let him force you to eat L). I’m gonna miss gossiping with you and telling you stories LL. Keep up with your good works because you are a very dedicated one. Stay healthy and be active more.  I hope you will be good at badminton one day (and play with meJ). Thank you for your kindness and concern and good luck!

To Guo Feng, you look cool when you are quiet but too quiet is not fun. You can be either cool or fun but please be a bit more fun even if you want to stay cool. At first I couldn’t talk to you much because you are very QUIET. You even palau-ed few of my questions before
L. Its alright,  youre good now. You have the stare that creeps me and esther (not esthor) out and I wonder what you’re thinking when you’re staring. Thank you for always making sure I know what I am doing and thank you for teaching me on how to talk to client (I have applied the skill on Miss Yong and it worked!) (You might not know what I am talking about but its alright, its based on my observation). Good luck and I hope to see  you at NZ (I will remember you one so just let me know when you’re coming).

To Azad, ahhahaha, sorry if the side effect of calling you ‘weird’ that day is strong but you are! You are so random and always popped out at the unexpected time. But keep it up as that is your trademark and may you stay happy. Keep up with the annoying attitude to Naqib (sorry Naqib) and may he not hit you. Thank you for your teaching on those claims (arigatou!). Please don’t leave your parking ticket in the car and please don’t make interns go take it (BAD). Be more cheerful please and stay weird!

To Farina! THANK YOU FOR THE CHOCOLATES JJ. I may not talk to you a lot but you are like a sister to me (maybe because I have a cousin that looks like you). But we did gossip and you can remember me for that J. Overall, try not to be soooo quiet because I know you like to talk (I know one..)(agree please). Stay strong and good luck with your future! You can do this! (I know what youre doing is tough but you’re gonna be a pro one day!). Hope to see you more and with chocolates JJJ.

To Farah, hye hye hye! I hope you will never have to experience the bad luck of ETIQA’s parking site L. Good luck with your MAHB and brunei works coz I feel so kesian (sorry Dylan, I don’t kesian you) coz it seems like there’s so many to be handled by two people. Seems like you’re doing well and good luck! YOU CAN DO THIS! I had great time talking to you whenever Im taking a break from works and may we see each other one day so that I can write more about you!

To Ping Wei, hey hey hey. (You are so bubbly JJ).Like ive said in my first letter, you’re very efficient and keep that up! I like how  talkative you are as I am glad that I am not the only one in that level 16 room. I hope I know Mandarin so that I can understand your stories and laugh along coz your stories sound funny and interesting to me. Good luck with your papers and stay cheerful! (p/s: don’t always disappear with Guo Feng, later Dylan will get sad as he cannot see his ‘future’).

To Esther (she’s going to read this actually), thank you for all of the awesome sessions! I did miss our teh Tarik morning session, our lync session, our gossips and all of it. We complete each other and please don’t believe what Dylan said, I did not replace you with anyone (he bullied me so teruk when you’re not around L(nah, kidding)). You are still my other half! Looking forward to see you soon before I fly back and also, hope to see you at NZ with your cool grandpa J.

In a nutshell, thank you everyone for making me look forward to my working days. Your guidance and your warmth are what I am going to remember most. I would like to say sorry (is it too late? *One republic song’s on*) for all of my wrongdoingsL. Even though the waking up early was the hardest and most annoying part, but I love being with you guys! You guys are A.W.E.S.O.M.E (not even joking). I am sooo gonna miss you all LLLL. Althouogh I don’t have to wake up very early (yayJ!) but I will be so bored at home (nayL). Good luck with the future and may the odds be ever in your favor *mocking jay’s sound on*. For Naqib and Azad, may the force be with you *star wars’ theme song on*. Ciao!

Regards

The coolest intern

The Formal letter->

Hi everyone,

The day is finally here where I am no more an intern. Well, to be honest, I feel sad to leave the team but, I believe that we will meet again one day.

I was told beforehand that EY has a warmer working environment where the people are very friendly and helpful and I am fully agree on that since the day I started. To be honest, I thought as an intern I will only be doing administration jobs but I am truly grateful that it is more than that.  Although I have been scolded by clients twice, I am glad that my enthusiasm to become an auditor is still there. I was asked by few people the same question which is “Will you come back?” and up until now, the answer is still the same; Yes. This is because I have been comparing stories of experiences from my friends who are working at PWC, KPMG and Deloitte, and I found my experience is much cooler.

One important thing that I have learnt is the importance of working as a team. No matter how good you are, auditing cannot be done by your own self. You still  need your members to help you out and vice versa. Despite the fact that everyone has their own parts, working together is fundamental as those parts are related to one another. I like the fact how this team is very efficient in working as a team. I like how there was not much disputes between each other as we are always there to help each other out. You guys are so team spirited! In addition, I also learnt that to be an auditor, I have to be tough and persistent in what I need as there are various kind of clients where it can range from very helpful to not so helpful. Moreover, I learnt that you have to know really well with what you’re dealing and who you’re dealing it with so that you can do and communicate it well with your client when doing works. Overall, it was  a good experience to be working as an intern in this team for Etiqa.

To Jan, thank you for your support and your effort on bonding us all through ‘makan-makan’ together. To Eugene, thank you for your answers to all of my ‘I have a question’ moments. Those are very informative and helpful to me throughout my internship. To Natasha, Esther and Shazwan, thank you for your help with my works and also for my non-works (ex. Leave). To Naqib, Yasmin, Dylan, Guo Feng, Azad, Farina and Farah, thank you for your guidance and patient, I know I needed more time to grasp things as I was quite slow. To Raf, thank you for your Philippine stories. Most of it are really new things to me. To Ping Wei, we didn’t get to know each other much but thank you for helping me out with the parking ticket. You’re a very efficient colleague. To Nayli, Jo ee and Wyatt, good luck and be strong!

Basically, thank you everyone for the help and support in teaching me what a real life auditing is and thank you for your patient in guiding me. I learnt a lot and all of you are one of the reasons why I enjoyed my internship days. Also, thank you for not bullying me and to allow me not to OT.

Thank you everyone and good luck with the future. All the best and I hope (really do) I will see you all again.
